I'm a hip hop artist with the We The 9 music collective. My main genres are hip hop, R&B, trap, soul, and most urban music sub genres. My style is very lyrically focused and my music is very conscious touching on reality, life, understanding, spirituality, passion, and ambition. The major point of what I'm doing is showing independent artists you can do what you love for free and still win because the people chose to support not you demanding their money!

We all fall down, but in time we just get back up. Lot of times I did with no backup. We all fall, I keep going til the track's done. I've been putting in the work just to practice. We all fall and they trip on the reaction. We all fall, but now I've got traction. We all fall, but we always get up again.

They think I should be worried about my future in rap and music in general. I'm not worried, I'm working. There is no alternative to pursuing your passion and happiness.

I have the juice, the energy, the grind, the creativity, the spark, whatever you want to call it.... as far as I'm concerned, I have it. It took me a long time, but I made it. I started from doing everything myself as a novice so naturally for a long time the quality of music I put out was sub-par. At the start of the song I say it's a lot of effort to get this, I was referring to getting to this point in my career where I feel that my music is at a respectable level of quality. What I'm putting out has juice. https://soundcloud.com/scottychams/juice

This has an underlying tone about love. When I wrote this, it was me writing to the future girl I end up. She'll have something I need, want, believe in, and love. She'll have it all and I'll give her all of me. However, I'd prefer the interpretation be left to the listener for what it means to them.

Today you are much more likely to be in a relationship based around fake love and infatuation or a sex driven passion rather than something closer to real love.

I don't want you to feel bad about me being gone, but I want you to miss me and remember me in these songs I've left behind and move on as we all should. As I say in the song it doesn't dim your flame to share the truth, I'll keep the path lit before I pass this and get back to my passion.

This is a very chill song I made about having a girl on my mind. I end up saying biddies instead because I end the relationships that matter and revert back because I refuse to deal with the fake attitudes and toxicity I run into so often. Smoke to this.

This was a track that I did very spontaneously. A follower of mine reached out to me and asked I make a song on this beat, so I did. It was a summer esque song, but I decided to just release it now. The concept is to live life and enjoy it for what it is. Just ride along the path even though we don't know where it leads.

I was going to end the EP off with Maze, but decided to throw in this awesome feature with jamesgetsit who is another prominent hip hop presence on the Steem blockchain. This is a chill song about smoking, why, and the intent. Credits Producer: Vocirus Feature: jamesgetsit

Everyone is stuck in a maze mentally trying to find the way out or to the center assuming there is significance in either, but eventually you'll realize the maze was the only point. You can't be here and now if you were never lost then found. Look within or you may always live without. Credits: Producer: Young Taylor

This song is largely about the fact that I was never trying to make money off music. It was never about getting famous or getting a record deal. It was always about the music and message, for real. Pursuing my passion and purpose did more for me than anything else ever did.

I talk about the idea that people are the labels you assume which is obvious. But I play to that hard. I'll take on many stigmas just to break them. I spend most of my time alone working. That's how it goes. Credits: Producer: JunioR Beats

When someone I never talk to checks in with me, they either think I'm doing really well and want to schmooze me to stay in my circle or they think success = money so they patronize me for not making much. I push my music for free because I believe in the message and money shouldn't prevent someone from hearing it. Because of this it's not an accurate way to track success, but the real point is that being successful is improving and becoming your best self. Audit your friend group, cut negativity, focus on the present, grind and don't give up.

After you've found meaning in your life. Your best next step is to give purpose to that meaning. For me the meaning was music and the purpose was inspiring others to pursue their passions. This song is a short summary of my revelation to my true calling.

This is a simple song I made in the last few months of university living with a bunch of roommates when we were smoking blunts pretty much back to back. I got this beat and we kept playing it while out smoking and I started writing it and finished it all during backwood sessions. I talk about some of the stuff we do while we chill. This song is very light-hearted but it also points to the fact that if I'm going to have a vice why not it be something simple like smoking blunts.

On the journey to making a life one must find meaning in what they do, bring meaning to what they do, or create something to do that has meaning. You can fail at playing it safe, so you might as well "risk it" and go for your passion. I understand not everyone can or will, but it's all in your mind.

This is a song about growing up and that what growing up is, is realizing that "grown ups" don't know much more about life than you. All the times when you were a kid and told "that's just how it is" or "because I said so" really meant "I don't know" or "I don't have a good reason or explanation." I say growing up is striving to be your best self

I made this song after I was charged with inciting a public disturbance without proof. Though the charge was minimal, the point is the message. The authorities can get away with nearly anything because when you have to investigate yourself, you tend to be generous with your findings

This song touches on all the police brutality and media focus on it in the time of its creation, 2016-2017 and the rising tensions with incidents popping up time and time again. It also touches on the premise that the economic model and mindset for western civilization is largely the cause of this.

This has some conscious rap to it, but for the most part this song is more of a turn up song changing it up a bit from the general album theme. The main premise is that people love honesty until you're honest with them.

This song is based on the premise that as long as we the people need to continue to strive for awareness opposed to ignorance and seeking a balance between privacy and security before we lose both. It also has a hinted theme of police brutality amongst other themes. If I were to pass on, the message I push itself is the only important thing in my mind not the legacy, the idea.

This touches on the idea that everyone falls at some point so help others that need and allow others to help you when you do need it. Also aligning with the general theme it's calling out people who only live selfishly and consciously explores indoctrination and the ridding of a 9-5 mindset.

This song basically is the sequel to Please Press Send with the assumption that you if you truly understood this message you would pass it on yourself or share the music with someone else who might need the motivation and direction provided. I'm satisfied knowing that I finally put out this project and brought these thoughts and opinions to the world. Message sent.

This song is about my musical journey and the idea that I'll keep making music everyday or at least as much as I can regardless of the challenges, because I changed everything to do this and I meant it when I said I'd do this for the rest of my life. I ditched a 9-5 to do this shit everyday.

This song is essentially the sequel to my previous release Grind. This represents how I feel to all the people asking will you sign and why do you still release free music and all the pointless questions that go against everything I've worked for. I'm showing people you can do what you want in life and as long as you don't waiver when people give you their 2 cents. I refuse all the 2 cent bits and generate my own.

The Yin and Yang is about accepting and dealing with the back and forth waywardness of life. I've come to accept things as they are and work within my means whether it's being a hopeless romantic or pursuing passion to no avail. I talk about the fact that we're all going to die, so we might as well live life as much as we can.

I wrote this song after a trip we took to our friends cottage and reflected on a lot while looking at the stars and the next day at the beach and seeing the fireworks. The actual theme itself is about enjoying the time we have because it won't last so we should live life to fullest now. This was also recently after getting over a break up so there's a little bit of that theme too.

I work 24/7 making music, going to university, and working to afford it all. I subscribe to the belief that this work will all pay off and when I finally do take time to celebrate or relax I go 110%. We could die any day so I'm working to do everything I can while I still can because "this is our chance"

This is a song I made about my musical pursuit and my grind in the industry and as an entrepreneur. I wrote this song in just 20 minutes and then did the entire recording, mixing, mastering and all the preparation to drop it including recording videos and getting footage for the video I will drop within the time-frame as well as photoshopping etc. I guess the point was I saw a Gary Vee interview talking about how as an artist if you're capable you should be releasing music as much as possible and a huge inspiration of mine, Alex Wiley releases music all the time and I have mad respect. I was also challenged by another artist to get something out and this is probably my best work, sound engineering wise and overall presentation.

Song Description: This song is coming from the perspective that people can so easily condemn something harmless like weed and then subscribe to and push the agenda of big pharmaceutical companies ingesting so many different terrible drugs to squeeze money out of those who can afford healthcare. It's actually sickcare. The point is, the first drugs I ever did were prescription. I'm always fighting the stigma that stoners are lazy or harmful to society. I say at the end of the song "With everything I've spoken of, is it really wrong to toke it up?" It's just culture, it's learned. Lyrics: CHORUS Now I know he ain’t bluffing (bluffing) But I know that he loves it (loves it) He always on something (something) He only talking one thing (yeah) Only that substance (substance) He only knows one thing (one thing) He only knows substance (yeah) He only knows substance (substance) VERSE 1 Yeah like What’s really good for you? Popped me full of pills That’s the rich hood for you Cause it seems like We all on a roll Trying to following the road Trying to stick to the role Within the program We got so many labels It’s like binary code man They told me they cold man I know that I can’t Just stick the to the script That’s deviance for you Like I’m losing my shit But I ain’t feeling no sorrow We just grinding for tomorrow I’m out here on my own Charting visions in poems I wrote I’m getting stoned to de-stress Cause I’m too old for recess Got no regrets Doing what I want I won’t cheat for the test Of life Before I meet death With each breath I expect A little less And more hope for the vision If I don’t fail to respect the mission I’ve set My life’s spent In dedication To revelations I’m just stating The understated And now Damn We just playing with thoughts Cause reflection is belated You could just sit and wait in I’m weighing The pros to the cons I’m relentless bout my conscience My time is the cost I’m finna toss The book out, For school, the rap game I'm starting from scratch man I plan to switch it up Got positive progress Cause they loving the division of Us So this shit is a must We all just need to trust it We must get there Damn I've been nowhere for awhile And it’s always not fair Cause I’m not paired I got scared And decided to share Cause I’m aware I’m not there High out of my mind But make use of my time Cause we lust for the cause If you worried bout winning You already lost Damn CHORUS Now I know he ain’t bluffing (bluffing) But I know that he loves it (loves it) He always on something (something) He only talking one thing (yeah) Only that substance (substance) He only knows one thing (one thing) He only knows substance (yeah) He only knows substance (substance) VERSE 2 You need Intellect, empathy, integrity One day I’ll fully respect and see My enemies are just friends to meet I’ma rap for free Spread the message I believe When I’m trying to cope With reality I get deep and show em love Like like damn Is it really wrong to toke it up? And with everything I’ve spoken of Is it really wrong to toke it up? CHORUS Now I know he ain’t bluffing (bluffing) But I know that he loves it (loves it) He always on something (something) He only talking one thing (yeah) Only that substance (substance) He only knows one thing (one thing) He only knows substance (yeah) He only knows substance (substance) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I'll be honest those may vary slightly and I may have wrote them in an nontraditional way, but it's the gist Free Download: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rEVe0jV6XdxyY82L9ZRUdLw3CSsStL9D?usp=sharing Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLNkarAqhr0&feature=youtu.be Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/5JuWnqldM2aEAqTdRtx0TR?si=ooCpDnU4SpithKUrmByfKA Links: Facebook: www.facebook.com/ScottyChams/ Twitter: twitter.com/scottychams Instagram: www.instagram.com/scottycham/ Blog: www.scottychamsmusic.com/blog/ Spotify: open.spotify.com/artist/0RIgbSGmvIIbvL2yjQxcfm Credits: Producer: Grizzlybeatz Sound Engineer/Artist/Everything Else: Scottychams
