Joos(t) The Vanished Dutchman is, as you might have guessed, from The Netherlands. You cannot pronounce his name easily: Juiced? Well it's an anti- artist name lads and gents! He's a musician first. Inspired by the likes of Gino Vannelli, Todd Rundgren, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Boz Scaggs, John Martyn, Tubes, Terry Callier and 10cc. He started out as a drummer (1979, before turning his hand to writing. Recording since 1980, releasing digitally since 2005.

He describes himself as a "zelfbevlekkende, narcistische, selfkickende, obsessieve, uitknijpende liedjesmaker" which loosely translates (I think) as a "self-denigrating, narcissistic, self-flagellating squeezer-out of songs" as freely translated by Tom Robinson. "Bomb Won´t Go Off featured both on his BBC6 Radio show and BBC6 Mixtape in november 2012 as did "Stupid Song(s)in 2013. "Chalky" did that trick again in 2016.

"Fly Talk" is the first song that kicks off the brand new album "The Fly On The Wall Routine", release 30th april 2019. The first song that kickstarted the process. The "fly on the wall" in this song you can often recognize in the way they position themselves. Maybe a bit like a bystander, watcher, observer (me included). But they talk too....and sometimes they break with that stereotype. Here It's about the stressed out famous, introverted one, who just wants out, escape! The line "the fly on the wall routine" I picked up (combining "routine" with "fly on the wall") reading one of those autobios about the once so rich and famous. The video Did it myself again, low budget. That's the way I like it. It's done with a monk's patience though to get it "right". So, No I'm not a professional, but I like it like that! A lot of rhythmic breaks and pulsing going around in this song, so I put pictures/ lyrics/ coloured effects on the tempo of the beat to support that. It's a lyric video by the way, so you'll be able to sing along. Enjoy! Fly Talk (Lyrics/Music: JoosTVD) Roll up that red carpet And let's get out of here You know you're playing against type All you want to do is disappear So we rolled up our sleeves And dropped the fly on the wall routine And we walked a few beats downtown And shaked our tambourines I have to talk to you...now! Don't look surprised I had to call I have to talk to you We have to clear the air somehow Don't want to talk A trail of clouds in the sky Is spelling out your name It feels like ripping off the band-aid you blow the blues away

promo from the new album of JoosTVD: "The Fly On The Wall Routine", release 30th april 2019. You'll hear hypnotic, afro syncopic patterns. I had a lot of fun creating melodies and arrangements on this one. I created piano motifs that changed the vocals I first came up with. That's the way I work a lot: I loop a verse and play along with a guitar or piano to bring another colour to it. It's all very free and playful, like a crazy kid jumping on a trampoline....without a safenet. Behave (Lyrics/Music: JoosTVD) Larry likes to scream for hours Fergie likes to eat the flowers (Hey ya hey nanana) There's a fire in my kitchen A little murder on the floor Nothing beats this witching anymore I can't control my urges Life's too easy in my court And after all these purges I get bored As long as you behave (As long as you behave just like I do And if you won't behave than I won't too) Nothing will be happening to you Behave just like I do I do Hey ya hey ya nanana Hey ya hey ya nanana Hey ya hey ya nanana Nothing will be happening to you Hey ya hey ya nanana Hey ya hey ya nanana Hey ya hey ya nanana hey! I see a bubble when you babble The struggle when you slip Who cares about the hassle when you're hip? You cannot lose your temper So you better sell your soul And you can love me tender Or not at all As long as you behave (As long as you behave just like I do And if you won't behave than I won't too) Nothing will be happening to you Behave just like I do I do Fergie likes to eat the flowers Larry likes to scream for hours Let me walk you through the papers Maybe if I see you later Hey ya hey ya nanana (Hey hey hey) Hey ya hey ya nanana (Hey hey hey) Hey ya hey ya nanana Let me walk you through the papers Hey ya hey ya nanana (Hey hey hey) Hey ya hey ya nanana (Hey hey hey) Hey ya hey ya nanana Maybe if I see you later

What do ya think? Nothing new maybe. To me, this is just a simple, carefree and upbeat, funky tune from a restless guy that loves to dance but shyness holds him back.... Marvin Gaye wrote an irresistable dance song about that (Got To Give It Up) to keep up with the disco rage in 1977. Watch the promo here: Well, I'm getting a little stiff maybe in the hips, but don't dare me! I'm not trying to grow up, that's all. Not now! Is it my grey hair that's increasing? Love life all over again. Dancing can surely help to reduce the age problem. Stay a kid. Love the rhythm of life. So many ways to do it! O, but I loved creating this little dittie. I wrote this very quick with a sort of naive confidence. All it took was a ball of spontanious energy. that you can't buy anywhere.

The toilet is the only private scene left. To find a little comfort, why not start off with an upbeat song? This joyous song hit me, so I hit back. Five minutes of blood, sweat and cheers. While it took little time to write, but arrangment-wise it was an adventure in rhythm patterns and melodies. To my surprise , lyrically it's sort of a sequel to "Unscrew Yourself". Topic: privacy. Back to the late seventies dancefloor! A little nostalgic throwback to my numerous dance moves I left on the dancefloor hearing those seventies soul (Chic, Kool & The Gang, Rose Royce, KC & The Sunshine Band) in those after midnight discotheques. Proud of the melodic chorus and the groove, which convinced me to put on my dancing shoes again.

This last, unexpected smooth one is my favourite. Almost did it in a minute. Topic: inspired by a story from the NY times and a few chameleons in my social environment. O, how they adapt. Hey, there's a little J.J.Cale influence there in the voice.

Inspired by that Boardwalk Empire (tv series) character Chalky White. A burst of restless energy I tried to put down in a tight fit arranged funk. Started as one of the first new songs for this album, inspired by the dense grooves of 1980's Remain In Light era Talking Heads, but heading (totally?) elsewhere eventually. The working out of the tightness in accents and the finishing of various arrangements took me almost a year, before I was really satisfied. I am now
