Remix for French group UHT° (DJ Click et al) Conceived on the dancefloors of Berlin and Melbourne, birthed in the studios of Argentina, Budapest and Belgrade and raised through a Berlin studio filled with, well, brass, wires and bass, this is a remix album like no other that plumbs the depths and traditions of Eastern European music styles.
Brass, Wires & Bass is the new offering from DJ Delay, featuring remixes of some of the finest Balkan music has to offer. Tweaking, fiddling, pushing the parameters and genre defying sonical touches all combine to give an imprint of what these music forms can sound like when taken to the limit.
Viajante by Tremor has a drunken bass sound mixed with a cumbia soundscape. Ya Piv by Rotfront has their perfect klezmerton nailed to the dancefloor and Max Pashm’s Klezmernaki receives a taut percussive reworking with the original noise guitar riff. La Cherga get more than they bargain for with echo, delay and note stretching and bending on Down Domination Part 2, Gaetano Fabri has house & broken beat thrown in his mix of Smart Gypsy, Municipale Balcanica has a minimalist and futuristic workover on Carovana and Boban i Marko Markovi! Orkestar is stripped right back and reassembled on Voz. Dunkelbunt and Vardos both receive bonus flavour crystals and it is on UHT° Sex, Dub, Jazz ‘n’ Roll that takes us to the depths of dub. Mastered by electronic maestro Jammin’ Unit and with elegant cover art by Penny Metal, the album is a complete snapshot of the current Balkan scene and of it's possibilities. (2010)

Adventurous Electronic, Jungle, Dub, Traditional, Balkan, Beats, Breakcore, Reggae, Cumbia, Drum & Bass
Baga Cumbia is velvety cumbia with a Turkish twist - complete with burning drum and bass. from the MIDI East EP - 4 deep and layered tracks, which delve into some of the music of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, disregarding visa controlled borders. Instead of audio tourism and simple phrase looping there’s thoughtful re-treading of solid melody. The focus is also not on homage to icons of the past via sampling, but on building the tracks from the ground up via soft synths and live recording. For this EP, 2 of the tracks have been blessed with the excellent ‘bouzoucaster’ (custom built hybrid fender guitar/bouzouki) & Qarqabeb playing of Berlin musician Shazam (Piranha records).
