“Uncoventional” would be the best word to describe the duo Liquid Lunch. Even from the start, through the way Ken and Michele met, their first gig, to the way they perform and flavor cover songs with their own unique style.
After meeting at a dance class in May 2014, Ken Eagle and Michele Akers discovered each other’s musical abilities (and after much nudging from Michele), formed a duo in late October of the same year. Their first gig was booked for a month later at the Port Lincoln Hotel prior to having any songs prepared, albeit a demo with three songs to showcase their talents. So… after 3 weeks of burning the midnight oil, sleeping in cars, numerous bottles of wine and working full time jobs during the day, they crammed 40 songs into their repertoire and successfully achieved their first appearance.
Since then, they haven’t looked back. Having played in excess of 220 Gigs, (inc. Weddings, Parties, and a Christening), performing at more than 50 different venues and travelling in excess of 160,000kms across the state of South Australia.
Although still actively gigging, Liquid Lunch has been focusing on writing and recording their self produced EP “Sketches 2 Seed”. Since early 2017 they had already released the Singles, All She Wants, Can’t Live There & Dirty Love. “Sketches 2 Seed” EP which consists of 6 tracks was released on the 24th March 2017. The EP is now available through iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify and other digital distributors.
Since “Sketches 2 Seed” was released, it has received airplay on both Internet Radio Stations as well as Community Radio in Australia.
Liquid Lunch received a nomination in the 2017 SAMS (South Australian Music Awards) for their song “All She Wants”.
Influenced by artists such as Caro Emerald, Imelda May, Nikka Costa, Melissa Etheridge, Joss Stone and Janis Joplin. Liquid Lunch is taking elements from all these artists and adding their own spin to create their sound.
