Trailer music for my VR Jetpack Game. The score is not the actual music in the game itself, but it plays on the main melody and has been stuck in my head for most of the year. Been a while since I finished any music, so it's a nice feeling. Grin (and yes, there's a koto)

Light-hearted song for the Leap Motion game called Polterghost. This is for the regular stages in the game that just involve exploring and learning how to interact with the environment. More repetitive than I would have liked, but I wasn't able to figure something out that wouldn't be too distracting as a shift; any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Random bit of chaos while improvising off my last Anuwera piece. Liked it more than I thought I would and just kept it. Short bit of improvisation. Has a bit of cliche pirate feel to it as well as some borrowed melodies from my other songs. Soundtrack
I've been wanting to remake this song for a long time... or at least the climax of it. :P The Edirol VST in the original Darker Stormy just wasn't strong enough for the climax to me. However, it took me a long time to find higher quality samples (mostly East West) that would match the overall sound I wanted to keep from the original. The new song here essentially starts with a remix of the climax starting at 4:55. From there, I tried to re-introduce old themes and mix in a few new ones, but I've had hard time trying to wind down from a loud start. Instead it ended up being more like a rematch of the themes in the original song than a remake. The image for the song was also fun to make and illustrates the scale I wanted to get across (the hand of God and clouds representing the darker themes of course). You can see it uploaded under my profile using the same name as the song. Some things I'm not quite satisfied with though. For one, the mix came out rather quiet. Tried to clean out the lower frequencies in EQ as well as use FabFilter, but I can't seem to raise the volume more without losing contrast between the loud and quiet parts. I also recognize that my songs, including this one, tend to sound a little "empty" or lack variety in the instruments. Part of the problem is just me not knowing what instruments to use. I tried to do a little more with this one, but suggestions as usual are always welcome. Experimenting with eastern instruments more. Some inspiration from Utarra-Kuru's East Wind album for the koto and some inspiration in the opening flute melody from Sega's games. The rest is improvisation. It was much more peaceful in my head though; I don't know why it ended up sounding sad and dark. I blame Halloween coming up at the time I was composing this. Originally I was going to make this longer, but it's been sitting in my drive for a year now unfortunately. I should start setting a deadline for wrapping my projects up, so I don't keep getting stuck on old stuff for so long. I've always kept two pianos around in the hopes of playing improvisation 1v1 against someone one day... I guess this will have to do for now. Extended version of the solo piano duet improvisation I did earlier. Video of it live here: https://youtu.be/qOZq3pGqN28

Short piano solo improvisation derived from the base melody in my earlier Anuwera piece. Played in parts and cleaned up in FL Studio. Can't escape the feeling that I've heard the melody before elsewhere, so if anyone's heard it before, let me know. It might also just be stereotypical fantasy/medieval motifs. May.10 - Jun.12 2016 This is probably my most thematically interesting and coincidentally longest piano piece so far. It may actually be more of a series of songs like chapters in a story, but I leave them together since it was originally played on the spot in one session. I'm also finally becoming more comfortable improvising both hands at once and switching fluidly between keys without really thinking about it. The piece itself originally was just me messing around in new keys but upon listening back really brings to mind the scenes of a character embarking on a journey into the world and the lessons that come, a sort of coming of age. The piece evolves as the character goes from an inexperienced newcomer to a more inquisitive and observant student of those around, before finally setting out one last time to face the world again. You can hear the parts where the character may be sailing off prematurely at first and charging head-first before failing, becoming more humble and learning, and then facing the storm again with more experience and appreciation of the journey itself. It's a bit of a hero's journey, though it really just fits any story with a protagonist and tale of exploration. Feb.05-07 2016 Accidentally played this randomly at first (literally had my eyes closed and didn't know what key I was in). I actually forgot it for a few days before sitting down to record it. The song's pretty simple to play and somewhat repetitive, but I like it. It has a nostalgic and dream-like feel to it, like you're always on a journey of sorts but never quite finding the place you belong, a longing to return home to a place of familiarity except that it never existed and probably never will.
