Singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, film-maker and activist –

Tim Arnold is a maverick solo artist whose work stretches the imagination and defies category. His music has been compared to David Bowie, Pete Townshend and Ray Davies.

In the UK, Tim is widely recognized as the first artist to write and release the first concept album about London’s Soho, 2015’s The Soho Hobo.

Together with Benedict Cumberbatch and Stephen Fry, Tim also leads the Save Soho group – a grassroots movement devoted to inclusivity, diversity and the future of performing arts and music venues in London’s famous creative Soho district.

Tim’s 16th solo album is due to be released in the summer of 2017.

This is the track I released last year from Iggy Pop's film 'Blood Orange'. Very excited to be on Musicoin and had to choose a track to get started. Money Kills Love seemed appropriate for a platform that is challenging the conventions of how we value music. Thanks for listening. Tx

When writing the song, Arnold was inspired by both Emma Watson’s He for She campaign and Stephen Fry’s seminal speech on the Catholic Church’s condemnation of gay people. In lyrics that challenge all those who threaten it, What Love Would Want is a simple, poetic song about unconditional love that champions diversity and love without barriers or shame. The video is a first in featuring couples who are straight, gay, lesbian, transgender, mixed race and interracial. To commemorate International Anti Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia Day, the video will be published publically on YouTube on the 17th May 2017. This song receives it's worldwide streaming premiere as a special pre-release on Musicoin.

Tim Arnold has composed the soundtrack to Iggy’s new film ‘Blood Orange’ Iggy Pop has compared the composer of his new film’s soundtrack to David Bowie. Iggy stars in new film Blood Orange, playing an ageing rock star troubled by his promiscuous wife (Kacey Barnfield) reigniting her romance with an ex-boyfriend (Ben Lamb). The music Iggy Pop performs in the film is composed by Tim Arnold, a veteran independent singer-songwriter who has self-released 13 albums. Iggy compared Arnold’s theme song for the film, Money Kills Love, to his old friend Bowie’s 1977 album ‘Low’, which Iggy sang backing vocals on. Pop said: “They sent along a demo which Tim had done in a home studio. It had a noir, detective movie guitar riff that comes and goes, but mainly four notes of a very plaintive, simple saxophone theme, just four forlorn notes.” “It could have been an outtake from ‘Kind of Blue’ by Miles Davis, or maybe side two of ‘Low’ by Bowie and Brian Eno. I liked it and they redid it with real musicians, which roughened it up. It reminded me a little of some things that Chet Baker did. I thought it was a real nice theme, effective for the film.”

Last year, Iggy Pop compared the music of Tim Arnold to David Bowie. This year, taking pride in his unique background as a straight, mixed race son of lesbian parentage, Arnold has written the leading song for his next album as a response to the divisive and for some, frightening times we are living in. When writing the song, Arnold was inspired by both Emma Watson’s He for She campaign and Stephen Fry’s seminal speech on the Catholic Church’s condemnation of gay people. In lyrics that challenge all those who threaten it, What Love Would Want is a beautiful, poetic anthem that champions diversity and love without barriers or shame. The video is a first in featuring couples who are straight, gay, lesbian, transgender, mixed race and interracial. To commemorate International Anti Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia Day, the video will be published publically on YouTube on the 17th May 2017.
