United Kingdom-based electronic musician Skaarl, started out as a DJ playing house music, before following the usual route to producing music under various alter egos. He has left the energy of the world’s dancefloors behind however, and now creates music in more relaxed genres, such as chillout, ambient, downtempo, trip-hop, and electronic music.

In June 2013, Skaarl released his debut Tropical Haze EP, consisting of mostly electronic and downtempo tracks. While this release serves as an introduction to his music, Skaarl’s individual musical style usually features the use of lazy chords and leads, laid-back beats, glitchy percussion, as well as the occasional chopped up and processed vocal. Many of Skaarl's releases are set around an obvious theme, such as the robot-like rhythms and synthesisers used on Android, or the aquatic-tinged Blue and White single. While others have more subtle themes, which are left for the listener to interpret in their own way. Occasionally the music also drifts back to a more relaxed style of dance music, such as with the single Shadows.

After taking time away from releasing music whilst at university, Skaarl reappeared in 2016 with his first album Locked in the System. Currently Skaarl is working on several forthcoming releases as well as playing double bass as a session musician.

One of the two versions of an electronic track that was made a few years ago. Really I just had this idea to combine electronic music with some dark brooding strings reminiscent of the dark arts, hence the title. As mentioned before, I did two versions of this track for this release (well technically 3, but the other ended up on Slave To The System). This is the ‘Invocation Mix’, the first tack from the single. The second track is the ‘Evocation Mix’. Not that there is too much difference between the two, when I’m creating tracks I generally do more than one version with different arrangements, instrumentation, groove, etc., rather than it being some kind of obligatory remix. I’ll then usually I select the best version to go on the release (not sure if there is a ‘best version’ of this particular track though lol). ISRC USA2P1684029 Release date 28 October 2016

This was the first track I created under this particular alter ego, I just thought I’d see what I could come up with =) Previously I had been creating mainly uptempo electronic music - sort of tech-house and techno stuff, for several years under a different name, but wanted to start something else that was a bit more downtempo and chilled out. That was back in 2012, which was kind of the beginning of where I am at the moment. The title ‘Flashbacks’ relates to a time before even all the dances stuff, in a previous period of downtempo-ness, although in those days (aka the 90s) it was more kind of acid jazz and trip-hop stuff - which is nothing like this track. So this was kind of going back to that time (maybe one day I’ll go further back to my time as a percussionist in a samba band, enough about that for now though). Originally put out just as a free to stream track on various platforms as I didn’t think of actually releasing it in 2012. However, after a few more years ‘Flashbacks’ would make it onto a release as the second track on the ‘Which Way Are You Going?’ single from 2017. About the Tropical Haze EP Originally the first EP I released back in 2013, this is a revised version officially released on 18 April 2019. I had always thought that it could have been produced a little bit better, and there was one track (Essence) that I wanted to include on the original but never made the cut at the time. One of the original tracks (The Burning Eye) I had wanted to improve on also, so the original version of this track has been replaced by a revised version. The other tracks have also all been remastered. About This Track ‘Flight of Icarus’ was my first attempt at creating ambient music a few years ago. At that time, I had wanted to experiment by creating something that resembles the flight of Icarus story, and also I hadn’t used Shepard tones in anything before, so these have been used here for ascent and descent during the flight. The idea that I had for this story was as follows — After take off the ascending Shepard tone sees him take off into the blue, followed by some warmer baser tones for the moment when he gets too close to the sun, the wax (or whatever it was holding his wings together) melts, then the descending Shepard tone sees him plummet from the sky. Hopefully this all makes some degree of sense 😄 ‘Flight of Icarus’ is the 5th track on my Tropical Haze EP released back in 2013, although I have no idea how it relates to the other tracks really, at the time it just seemed like a good idea to add it on as part of that EP really. It started out as a trip hop track that I had played bass on, not overly happy with my performance playing bass I decided to edit the bassline a little. Although with adding all the processing and manipulation I thought the weirdness sounded quite cool, so I continued doing this with some of the other elements of the track until it became what it is now. Parts of this, along with parts of the track ’Tropical Night’ formed another track called ’Tropical Haze’, which was where the title of the EP stems from. I had wanted to do something that reminded me of the haze that’s sometimes around when being in tropical regions (kind of like what’s on the comer image). I thought the timbre of synths and the slurred vocal were quite a good fit for that. The glitchy drums and delayed vocal stabs were intended to represent the random noises heard when you’re in that kind of environment (i.e. dripping water from transpiration of plants, creatures moving around in the undergrowth, etc., etc.). Hopefully this comes across to some degree. IRSC QZ5FN1952471 Release date 18 April 2019 Thanks for listening!

I don’t make too many Drum & Bass tracks, but produced this one during a phase of trying out different genres that I wasn’t used to. Having produced this several years ago (February 2012 to be exact), I thought that this had been lost long ago. However, whilst looking for something completely unrelated on one of my hard drives, I stumbled across a folder containing 4 more or less complete projects, this one being amongst them. The only changes made to this track really were a little bit of a change to the mastering (I even happened to save the premastering files for this too, as I was doing this process only using a computer at that point in time). Being a kind of legacy track, I didn’t wish to change this too much, but rather preserve it. Originally this was just called ‘February’ (since it was created for something in February 2012 but never got used), I was going to keep that name and release it in August or something just to be ironic. The name was changed after one of those daft Discord conversations I was having with TygerTyger and Bufinjer at the time, and came up with ‘Leche de Ocelot’ after something that came up in a GIF, I said I was going to use that for a track name...and it sounds a bit more funky than ‘February’ ; ) IRSC: QZ5FN1969371 Release date: 8 April 2019 Thanks for listening!

Under a former identity, I was a DJ - playing and producing tech house and techno, I just thought I’d turn things around for old times sake and have another trip back into that genre (well not exactly, but sort of) hence the name of this track/release. An alternative mix of Alter Ego, which is done in more of a tech house kind of vibe. Basically a re-arrangement of some of the original version, with a few additional elements thrown in there. The vocals were taken from the original Ultrabeat chops, and made a little bit more minimalistic, since I felt they were a bit over used in the original mix of this track. Alter Ego is a two track single, released in March 2019. IRSC QZ5FN1947086 Release date 14 March 2019

This track is for the main part a trip into synthesis for me. Each of the drum kit elements were created via synthesis (which is why there’s a bit of roominess going on), as well as the bass, chords, leads, sex, etc. The only samples taken from elsewhere were the vocals, which I just cut up and sequenced in Logic’s Ultrabeat. Here`s a downtempo electronic track, which I think ended up having a little bit of a 90s techno vibe to it in places. This was a track from the single of the same name. When I created this track, I had been tuning my bass synth up to try and get a bass timbre that I liked, anyways when arranging the track I moved it out of the way to the end, completely forgot about it, and bounced the bass tuning part down with the rest of the mix (I didn`t notice as the end of the playback loop was before that part). For some reason I thought I`d just leave that in anyway, it makes it a bit different. IRSC: USQY51423539 Release date: 31 January 2014 Thanks for listening! steemit.com/@skaarl

One of the first robotic themed tracks that I produced a little while back, quite a laid-back tune created using some robotic samples I had, the idea is “music created by machines”. The androids were supposed to be like those daft servant robots that they have in scifi films, Doctor Who, brexit or whatever. Except these ones have gone a bit mental and started playing electronic instruments and dancing around, like in that scene in the film Solo when they all start rebelling. Anyways, they eventually go into malfunction mode and shut down...others will take their places though. The robots are coming! ...don’t tell @juxtamusic A remastered version of this track was also included on the 2016 release ‘Locked In The System’.
The North Wind Blows
To be honest, I have no idea what genre this fits into so I'm just going with the soundtrackesque result (which wasn't intentional), this was basically the result of just jamming (obviously the audio has been played about with afterwards a little bit, but you get the idea). I don’t really post this one very often, probably because it's one of the longest tracks I've made, as usual constructive feedback is welcomed =) IRSC: USQY51609117 Release date: 25 November 2016 If you like this, you can listen to some of my other tracks on the following platforms: * Choon: https://choon.co/artists/skaarl * Whaleshares: https://whaleshares.io/@skaarl * Steemit: https://steemit.com/@skaarl * Musicoin: https://musicoin.org/artist/0x590fae07aca315cf15b36511b5facb365da80c17 or https://bit.ly/2J8l3Mn * Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/skaarl * Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6pJPBZpUj9WZcSQsmiDiBE Or follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SkaarlMusic Thanks for listening!

Walk on Water This was one of the two tracks from the Blue and White single released back in 2013. It just really started out as an experiment trying to make a track out of water based sounds, everything apart from the bass and vocals (although these were effected by a water sound fed into a vocoder) was created using recordings of water, generally resampled and processed to sound synth-like. I got the idea for doing something like this with the percussion after I saw a documentary, in which people from a remote African tribe were stood in a river, “playing” the water as if it was a percussive instrument (they sounded pretty good too). I refer to this as aquatic dub music ...or something. Since I’d previously done a few robotic type tracks, I decided to remix Juxta’s track ‘I Fear The Robots’…although technically this track isn’t about actual robots. I kept many of the original elements of the track, including the vocals and a majority of the guitar parts. Layering up the dry version of the vocal with the wet version. The guitar parts mainly follow the progression of the original stem, but this was trance gated in a fair few places to try to make it sound a bit more mechanical. For this mix I had come up with two different basslines, one a that was amped up through an Orange AD200, the other was a rezzy more electronic bassline, after deliberating over which one I liked best, I just decided to layer the two together and use some modulation in various sections of the arrangement. Drums in this were created from electronic and mechanical robotic sounding samples. Distant Shores One of those tracks I created ages ago as a chillout track. It’s meant to conjure up memories of being on some tropical beach on an island somewhere in the Pacific or whatever, hence the sound of waves. This is another one of those tracks, that probably could’ve been shorter, although I kind of liked how slowly it progresses (probably should’ve made the drums feel a bit more subtle though). In the Middle Originally the title track of a 2013 single (along with the original version of ‘Teeth & Claws’ — yeah that one again! lol), this is one of those tracks that I really started to forget existed, mainly because it’s not the most exciting track I’ve ever made. Anyway, this could’ve been called ‘Experiments in Max For Live’, since it was when I’d just started using it and was playing about creating sounds and using some of the FX devices. One of those tracks I’d not really bothered uploading anywhere other than Soundcloud until now, and really just uploading it now to complete all my back catalog stuff on Choon and Musicoin. I’m planning on thinning out some of my old releases from my former aggregator over the next year or two, re-releasing some of the better stuff I released through them, but not this track! So it’ll at least be kind of archived on the blockchain. And I still need to get better at using Max For Live to it’s full potential! This is an alternative version of an electronic track that I made a few years ago. I usually end up with multiple versions of tracks (not remixes) with different elements, arrangement, or whatever. Usually I will just choose the one I prefer for the mix, but was kind of undecided with these two versions. Really I just had this idea to combine electronic music with some dark brooding strings reminiscent of the dark arts, hence the title. As mentioned before, I did two versions of this track for this release (well technically 3, but the other ended up on Slave To The System). This is the ‘Evocation Mix’, the second tack from the single. The first track being the ‘Invocation Mix’. IRSC USA2P1684030 Release date 28 October 2016

This is a remastered and subtly remixed version of ‘Android’ that was included on ‘Locked In The System’ from 2016. This was one of the first robotic themed tracks that I produced a little while back, quite a laid-back tune created using some robotic samples I had, the idea is “music created by machines”. The androids were supposed to be like those daft servant robots that they have in sci-fi films, Doctor Who, brexit or whatever. Except these ones have gone a bit mental and started playing electronic instruments and dancing around, like in that scene in the film Solo when the droids all start rebelling. Anyways, they eventually go into malfunction mode and shut down...others will take their places though. The robots are coming! ...don’t tell @juxtamusic IRSC USA2P1673796 Release date 9 September 2016 If you like this, you can listen to some of my other tracks on the following platforms: * Choon: https://choon.co/artists/skaarl * Whaleshares: https://whaleshares.io/@skaarl * Steemit: https://steemit.com/@skaarl * Musicoin: https://musicoin.org/artist/0x590fae07aca315cf15b36511b5facb365da80c17 or https://bit.ly/2J8l3Mn * Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/skaarl * Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6pJPBZpUj9WZcSQsmiDiBE Or follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SkaarlMusic Thanks for listening! https://whaleshares.io/@skaarl

‘What Else Is There?’ is a chilled out acid jazz(?) style arrangement and the final track on Slave To The System (any thoughts on what genre it fits into, let me know, I have no idea lol). It’s intended to show a change in direction after all the electronic stuff on the album and some of my past releases; I’m planning on returning to a more chilled and organic vibe for future releases. I wanted to make something a little more jazzy, so built this arrangement up track by track and convincing Dave to record me a piano track for this. I’m also playing my old acoustic double bass on this (even though I sold that one a couple of years ago). ‘Afterdark Reprise [Teeth & Claws, Pt. 3]’ is a third instalment of ‘Teeth & Claws’ that I did, which was kind of accidental, in that I had been checking out the levels whilst I was mixing the original version of ‘Afterdark’. When I tried bouncing it I had forgot to un-mute or un-solo some of the tracks like the drums, which left just certain instruments in the as well as a kind of layer of ambience. I thought it would make for a reprise kind of track on a release, so it ended up as the penultimate track on Slave To The System.
About the Parts of Teeth & Claws
I had intended to remix the original version of ‘Teeth & Claws’, but got a bit distracted playing with one of those PPG synths and whatever drum machine it was (TR-505?), so it didn’t exactly go as I had expected and ended up sounding like this; the results were a similar, but created a completely different track. This track ended up being called `Afterdark`, which I subtitled as `Teeth & Claws Part 2` and was added to my Vampire Bat release (another one I should forget about). Also while I was creating "Part 2", I tried bouncing down the track to test the levels out, however left some of the channels muted (or was it soloed?) omitting the drums and exposing the FX returns a little more, creating another more ambient variation on the concept. So there is also a “part 3” to this (one for the album as they say). This is the original version of ’One Day In Your Life’, which previously had featured the radio edit on my South Of The City single. There was a slight change of direction slightly on this track, I’m not too sure what genre it actually fits into (not that I care about genres anyway) but seems to fit the description of NuDisco...someone said Funk the first time I uploaded it, but I`m going with Funky House (is that still a thing?). I actually made it using some guitars from a disco sample pack I had, it was one of my “let’s just try and make a track out of whatever samples I have at hand" tracks. It originally had a female vocal on it from the same set of samples, but I removed that as I didn’t feel that it added anything. A couple of people have said it sounds a bit like one of Daft Punk`s tracks from a while ago...I dunno about that though lol. There is also the longer original version of this, which I’m thinking about adding to an upcoming release, and will upload here in due course. This got aired a couple of times on BBC Introducing back in 2016, as did the radio edit of the title track from the release. ‘Which Way are You Going?’ is a chilled electronic track, released previously as part of a single in 2017, this is the remastered album version however. Originally this track was an intended to be a chillout track, although when the drums and a bit of a techy bassline were added it started sounding a bit more electronic, so I just went with it. This is probably one of the mixes that I didn’t actually overthink around the time when I did the mixdown, it`s probably a bit more minimalistic than it sounds anyway, so that probably depends on what your perspective is. I had wanted to make it a bit more twisted, so everything apart from the drums and bass was swirling around a bit more, but then I started to think that would end up as a bit of a train crash mix. It probably would’ve taken away the chilled out sound too. This is the ninth track from Slave To The System. ‘Necromancer (Forbidden Rituals Dub)’ is an alternative mix of a track that was released a few years ago. The original versions (the ‘Invocation’ and ‘Evocation’ mixes) were released as a two track single, I had started this more stripped back dub of it at the time, but never got around to finishing it. I decided to revise this again as I was wading through the half finished projects on my hard drive earlier this year, but I wanted to make it a bit different to the more house music oriented mixes from before. To start with I replaced the drums to change the feel of the groove. Then I went to change the bass, which I decided this time I should play on an instrument rather than just trying to follow the original bassline but with a different groove. This was played on a Stagg EDB electric double bass (yeah I know, cheap and nasty! lol) and amped with bass roundup settings dynamic mic’ed on the near-axis. Probably not the best bassline I ever played, but after amping it up I think it gives it a bit more of a moody dubby electronic feel. I also managed to chuck a theremin in there towards the end, just because I wanted it to sound a bit weird. Anyway, this is the eighth track from ‘Slave To The System’, released on 30 November 2018. This is a second version of ‘Afterdark [Teeth & Claws, Pt. 2]’ I did, to be honest it’s not that much different, I just really changed the balance of the mix slightly, and shortened the excessive lead out from the original version. This is the seventh track from Slave To The System, with the other version of this track featuring on the Vampire Bat single previously.
‘Eye Witness’ is the sixth track from Slave To The System, and is a track that really just evolved out of experiments with dissonance. The string sounding parts was meant to give a feeling of something disturbing being witnessed (as in the title), these are made up of various layers that were each detuned slightly from each other. The experimental part was how far I could push the detuning and how big an interval could be used to evoke a disturbed feeling. The glitchy distorted parts (fills, breaks, whatever you want to call ‘em) were meant to represent something else occurring, speaking up about an event that just happened, confrontation, or just escaping (not sure I had really finalised that concept tbh). ‘Freaky Medicine’ is a track that I previously demoed this on steemit a while back when it was still a WIP, the idea for this was to try and create a track using a single synth. This one synth was used for drums, bass, leads, SFX, etc. (everything apart from the vocal sample tbh). Each instrument was recorded individually, one track at a time, and then cut up, edited, rearranged, etc. (apart from the drums, which were loaded into the sampler in Ableton Live). I wasn’t too dissatisfied with the end results. Although I did consider doing a shorter version of this, but I think I would prefer to just concentrate on creating some more original material. Not sure where it fits in the genre spectrum, some kind of acid/techno type thing, but I’ll just go with electronic I suppose =) IRSC: USLZJ1894327 Release date: 30 November 2018 If you like this, you can listen to some of my other tracks on the following platforms: * Choon: https://choon.co/artists/skaarl * Whaleshares: https://whaleshares.io/@skaarl * Steemit: https://steemit.com/@skaarl * Musicoin: https://musicoin.org/artist/0x590fae07aca315cf15b36511b5facb365da80c17 or https://bit.ly/2J8l3Mn * WEKU: https://deals.weku.io/@skaarl * Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/skaarl * Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6pJPBZpUj9WZcSQsmiDiBE Or follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SkaarlMusic Thanks for listening! https://whaleshares.io/@skaarl

'Teeth & Claws' was something that came out of the need to create something with a little bit of a dark feel to it. At the time (back in 2013), I had been creating mostly downtempo chillout tracks, but felt the need to do something a bit more moody and distorted, so I came up with ‘Teeth & Claws'. Originally part of my ‘In The Middle’ single, this has been (very slightly) revamped to feature as the second track on the ’Slave To The System Album’ as well as being rebranded in the format of ‘Teeth & Claws [Teeth & Claws, Pt. 1]'. Not too sure where the name came from originally, whether it had just been conjured up inside my head from listening to the track, or if it was when I used to watch a lot of repeats of Being Human on BBC3. Anyway, a couple of years later I tried to remix this track after playing with one of those PPG synths and whatever drum machine it was (TR-505?), which didn't exactly go as I had expected; the results were a similar, but created a completely different track. This track ended up being called 'Afterdark', which I subtitled as 'Teeth & Claws Part 2' and was added to my Vampire Bat release (another one I should forget about). So there is also a "part 3" to this. I have been thinking of scattering all 3 around a release (like on tracks 2, 5 and 8 or whatever), I think I've taken this far enough now not to create part 4...unless of course I make another production mistake with it that I quite like the sound of. Another track from Locked In The System, I wasn’t entirely happy with the mix in this one to be honest. So what’s up with the title of this one? Really I kept having one person or another tell me they downloaded this cool app, or video, or banging on about some kind of social media “thingy” (I’m not really a social media type of person). But these same people didn’t have a clue what was occurring in the real world around them, being so wrapped up in their phone/tablet/whatever. And then you have the conspiracy theory types, who believe whatever rubbish is on YouTube without a concept of quality control; I’ve heard everything here - the sun isn’t really there, the earth is flat, some politician is computer generated or a robot, cavemen didn’t exist - my response to that one was “yes they do, I’ve seen them on the telly, they make the cars move with their feet!” (if you can’t beat ‘em... lol). I had one guy in particular who kept banging on about these kind of things every day, so I ended up telling him that he should try living a little and downloading reality, hence the song title. Am I being one of those anti-technology hippie guys? Not particularly, I’ve used computers and technology all my life, and I’ve been using the internet since about 1993, so it’s not like I’m a newbie or anything. Personally, I find the real world far more interesting than the virtual world, not that both can’t exist together, it’s just that there is a whole load of real stuff out there to get involved with that doesn’t have an app or a YouTube video. Technology is there to augment our lives as far as I’m concern, but I know people who let it control their action far too much! Anyway, this track is basically just saying “get a grip”, because not everything has to be downloaded as an app. All made with electronic instruments of course =P IRSC USA2P1673802 Release date 9 September 2016 If you like this, you can listen to some of my other tracks on the following platforms: * Choon: https://choon.co/artists/skaarl * Whaleshares: https://whaleshares.io/@skaarl * Steemit: https://steemit.com/@skaarl * Musicoin: https://musicoin.org/artist/0x590fae07aca315cf15b36511b5facb365da80c17 or https://bit.ly/2J8l3Mn * WEKU: https://deals.weku.io/@skaarl * Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/skaarl * Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6pJPBZpUj9WZcSQsmiDiBE Or follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SkaarlMusic Thanks for listening! https://steemit.com/@skaarl

This is a remix of Juxta’s track ‘Peaceful Tranquillity’ that got dubbed up a little bit. I wanted to keep some of the original elements of the mix, such as the vocals and some of the guitar parts. Although the dry version of the vocal was layered with the wet version, which I heavily effected to make it sound a bit swirly. Parts of the guitar were used as the original stem, but sections have been altered with side chain gating, modulation and tape delay to create a more dubby sound. I was going to record a new bassline for this on bass guitar, but I really liked those tones in the original, so just cut it up and re-arranged it. The drums consist of industrial machinery sounds that I found quite appropriate for this particular mix. Downtempo electronic track from ‘Locked In The System`from 2016. I went for the chilled out vibe on this, to represent the calm in the middle of the storm - i.e. it went into the middle of the album, but in retrospect I should’ve placed it between two of the more chaotic tracks on there. Combining some elements of two other tracks -- ‘Tropical Night’ and ‘Haze’, this was the intro track for the Tropical Haze EP from 2013. The EP was intended to be a collection of chilled out electronic tropical-rainforest-jungle type of tracks, which hopefully comes across to some extent. I am currently working on a revised version of this EP (for release in 2019), as I always thought that it could have been done a bit better, and there was another track that I wanted to include but never made the cut. Previously uploaded to #dsound back when it was a WIP, this is now the (something like) finished version of this track, I put out for release on 21 September (2018). Does this track really deserve it’s own release? Probably not, but putting out for distribution at least gets it on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora and wherever else, as well as getting a UPC and IRSC. And like all the other ...Life tracks, I’ve just been putting them out for continuity purposes (or whatever that other word was that escapes me right now). I was working on a remix of Juxta’s track, and imported the wrong vocal into this track while I was going for a different remix of this. I liked how it sounded, so I just edited the vocal a bit to fit the track and did a mixdown. Windswept was originally a track on the single ‘Shadows’ from 2014, however I recently released some edited versions of this track under the title of ‘Shadows - The Edits’. I had some ideas for further remixes of the tracks, although as mentioned above, this was the result of a bit of a happy accident. The vocal track comes from ‘The Beautiful Ones’, which is one of the tracks on Juxta’s pretty cool album ‘Welcome To Your Life’. Thanks to Juxta for giving permission to upload this track featuring his vocals. This was my first attempt at ambient music from a few years ago, I wanted to experiment by creating something that resembles the Flight of Icarus story, I hadn’t used Shepard tones in anything before, so used these here for ascent and descent during the flight. After take off the ascending Shepard tone sees him take off into the blue, followed by some warmer bassier tones for the moment when he gets too close to the sun, the wax (or whatever it was holding his wings together) melts, then the descending Shepard tone sees him plummet from the sky Hopefully this all makes sense to some degree 😄 This was the 5th track from my Tropical Haze EP from 2013, no idea how it relates to the other tracks, just seemed like a good idea to put it on there at the time. I’m currently working on an updated version of this for 2019, as I always thought I could have done a bit better with a couple of tracks, and include the one that didn’t make it originally. Electronic, Dance & EDM, Remixes, Indie
I thought this track 'The Beautiful Ones' by Juxta was cool the first time I heard it on ACR's spotify playlist a couple of years ago, so thought that now I would give it a bit of remix treatment myself. I had originally envisioned it as a lo-fi type of remix, but had to remove some of the lo-fi processing because it was making the ride cymbals sound like triangles, killing the lo-mids and making the track lose a lot of energy, so this is the resulting mix, sin processing, listening back to it just now it probably could've had the RMS increased a bit more. Not sure what you would call this genre - electronic punk?, alternative dance? This is a stripped back edit of 'Windswept' from the single Shadows. I tried to shave some time off of the track by shortening the intro, the first verse and last chorus (if you can call them that), also removed the sample pack vocal (the rap) that had been bugging me, although kept the female vocal because felt it fitted in with the track,

This is the last track from my Free Flowing Torrents EP, which just started out with me trying to decide which out of 2 synth baselines to use...both are actually in the track, but I made one into more of a lead synth in the end. I had been avoiding uploading this track anywhere because I thought it was a bit messy, although hearing it back a year and a half later, I don't think it's really that bad now.
