Music and Lyrics by Brooke Ansley Produced by Pascal Guyon About the song: On my way home for Christmas in 2016 I sat next to a stranger on a Southwest Airlines flight. During our 5 hour flight across the country, Bob started to tell me that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer just weeks prior, and he had purchased a one-way ticket to New Hampshire to see Colleen, a woman he was with back in his 20s, but who he hadn't seen in 30 years. Bob and Colleen had recently started talking again and their love for each other seemed to be picking up right where it left off. I had so many questions. "Why did you break up? How come you didn't fight for her then? Don't you regret the 30 years of time you lost?" Bob responded with the most resounding conviction, "We just weren't ready then. It wasn't time." I sat with that for a while and when the plane landed in Baltimore I told him I wished I could go on to New Hampshire just to see them embrace, to know what that kind of Love looks like, to watch them say hello again after so much time apart. I guess I had been feeling like maybe Love doesn't exist in the way I thought it does, but Bob and Colleen's story jarred me. Over Christmas and the following weeks I retold their story to everyone. It was a story I needed to tell and retell, if only to restore my own faith. So I started to write a song. A few weeks later I received a phone call from Bob telling me that he and Colleen were getting married in Palos Verdes and they wanted me to sing in their wedding. It was no mistake that I had already been writing a song called "Right On Time." Bob passed away on February 20th, 2018, over a year after he had been given just three months to live. Bob lived a life of joy and love, and spent his last year married to Colleen. Their story still inspires me every day.
