Johann Christoph Oley, Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern (Haarlem) Johann Christoph Oley (1738 – 1789) was a German organist and composer. In 1755 he became organist of the church in Bernburg, but moved to the church of St Stephan in neighbouring Aschersleben in January 1762 because of its superior organ. At least 77 works for organ solo by his hand survive. This chorale prelude on "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern" is for two manuals and pedal. Oley made a sparkling piece, in reference to the title of the chorale. The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Voxus, of the Müller organ in the Sint Bavokerk, Haarlem (http://www.voxusorgans.com/en/product/haarlem). A collection of Oley's chorale preludes can be found here: http://partitura.org/index.php/johann-christoph-oley-variierte-chorale/
