This song is a soundtrack to my life as a kid growing up in the South Bronx which was originally called "Morrisania." The 1970s was known as "the Decade of Fire" because between 1970 and 1980 over 30,000 buildings burned. I remember playing on the ashes and rubble. I recall the sounds of fire engines, police cars, ambulances, and the train creating a sonic backdrop to the frenzy of the reality called Morrisania.
