Ustunde mixes Turkish lines with Chinese Zither into a sunrise outdoors Berlin tech house track. From the MIDI East EP - 4 deep and layered tracks, which delve into some of the music of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, disregarding visa controlled borders. Instead of audio tourism and simple phrase looping there’s thoughtful re-treading of solid melody. The focus is also not on homage to icons of the past via sampling, but on building the tracks from the ground up via soft synths and live recording. For this EP, 2 of the tracks have been blessed with the excellent ‘bouzoucaster’ (custom built hybrid fender guitar/bouzouki) & Qarqabeb playing of Berlin musician Shazam (Piranha records). Each of the four were brilliantly polished & well tested on the dancefloors of the EU and North America in the early part of 2012.
